Corrie’s Helen Flanagan ‘braves knife trick’ in first look at Wicked Queen role

The former Westholme School pupil is set to play the role of Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, at The Auditorium, M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.

Helen showcased her glitzy black, red and gold outfit, complete with red crown, ahead of the pantomime which will run from December 12 until December 28. She joined other cast members for a day of show promotion and influencer visits.

Ramsbottom’s Gareth Ellis, also known as Bippo the clown, has also been confirmed as part of the pantomime cast.

A video, posted to her one million followers, shows Helen braving Bippo’s knife juggling trick, which saw her lying on the ground and he skillfully threw knives above her.

Bippo said “it’s like an episode of Corrie,” as he juggled the knives. Helen joked about how “horrendous” the experience was.

Helen said: “This guy is so talented and I saw the panto last year at the M&S Bank Arena and he was amazing.

“I had no idea he was going to be juggling with knives, I was just told to do some juggling with Bippo.”

A spokesperson for Shone Productions said: “Come and see the beautiful Snow White and her seven little friends from the enchanted forest as they attempt to defeat the evil Wicked Queen who is overcome with jealousy when her magic mirror declares that snow white is the fairest in all the land.

“Will snow white meet her handsome prince and live happily ever after? There’s only one way to find out…

“This magical pantomime features great songs from our live band, dazzling dance routines, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and amazing special effects.

“It will be an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.

“So, make sure you book your tickets for the fairest pantomime in all the land!”

This is Helen’s first acting stint since leaving ITV soap, Coronation Street. Helen first joined the Coronation Street cast in 2000 when she was nine, leaving the soap in 2012 and then returning briefly in 2017 before leaving again in 2018 to go on maternity leave.

The mum-of-three was set to appear on stage as Miss Scarlett in the theatre production of Cluedo 2 last year.

She pulled out of the production for medical reasons and was replaced by Ellie Leach.

Ticket prices start from £28 and can be found at www.mandsbankarena.com.
