The Marco Players will perform Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime at The Forge in Bolton from Tuesday, November 11, to Saturday, November 15.
The play is a ‘wickedly witty’ comedy adapted by Constance Cox from Wilde’s late-Victorian tale.
Set in the dazzling world of late-Victorian society, the play follows the well-meaning but misguided Lord Arthur Savile, who is told by a fortune-teller that he is destined to commit a murder. Wanting to “get it over with” before marrying the lovely Sybil Merton, Arthur sets out to fulfil his fate – with hilariously disastrous results!
Ben Latham, who plays the title character, said: “Lord Arthur might be a man in a moral muddle, but he’s great fun to play, and the cast bring such energy and warmth to the stage.”r.
The cast includes Mike Thomas as Lord Arthur’s loyal butler Baines, Laura Duffy as Sybil Merton and Vicki Wilson as Lady Julia Merton.
Other cast members are Paul Costello as Podgers the Chiromantist, Nigel Cropper as The Dean of Paddington, and Charlotte Ashworth as Nellie.

Laura Roberts, director, describes the play as: “A delicious blend of dark humour, charm, and absurdity, perfect for anyone who loves classic comedy with a wicked edge.”
This is the Marco Players’ second show at The Forge, following their production of Mrs Reynolds and the Ruffian earlier this year.
