The iconic play opens Farnworth Little Theatre’s new season.
Set in New Orleans, the powerful classic explores family, desire and the explosive relationship between Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski.
Director Ben Ventress said: “The play’s iconic protagonist/antagonist relationship between Blanche Dubois and Stanley Kowalski, have become such a part of theatre folklore that it is difficult to appreciate just how shocking and new Tennessee Williams’ drama must have been for its first audiences in 1947.
“The cast and crew have dedicated many hours of hard work over the last ten weeks to bring this wonderful classic of American theatre to life. We hope you enjoy the end result.”
The production comes following a hugely successful awards season for Farnworth Little Theatre, which recently won the Drama Shield for Best Overall Performance at the Greater Manchester Drama Federation Awards.
The theatre also picked up awards for Best Director (John O’Connell), Best Male Supporting Actor (Dean Lane), Best Supporting Actor (Jack Maidment), Staging, and Best Dramatic Production for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Season tickets for Farnworth Little Theatre are £40 (£32 concessions), giving audiences five nights of theatre for less than £50.
In November, audiences can step behind the scenes of Hollywood in Bette and Joan (7–14 November 2026).
The new year begins with Strictly Murder (16–23 January 2027), a fast-paced thriller full of twists, deception and suspense. March brings Good (13–20 March 2027), a compelling and thought-provoking drama about a liberal-minded university professor who gradually drifts into the upper ranks of the Nazi administration.
The season concludes with J.B. Priestley’s beloved comedy When We Are Married (15–22 May 2027).
Three respectable Yorkshire couples gather to celebrate their joint silver wedding anniversary, only for an unexpected revelation to throw their lives into hilarious chaos.
