Musical sequel to Oliver Twist to open in Bolton this month

‘Twisted! The Musical’, an original production that picks up the story of Oliver Twist 15 years after the death of Nancy, will open its national tour with a special gala opening at Bolton’s Albert Halls on June 18.

The show will then continue its Bolton run until June 21.

It aims to offer a modern continuation of Oliver’s journey, exploring new relationships, challenges, and themes of hope, love, and resilience.

Si Wall, director of the musical, said: “Anything Theatre Company is thrilled to bring this production to life with a commitment to storytelling and platforming excellence from artists all across the UK.”

‘Twisted!’ follows Oliver Brownlow as he navigates the complexities of adulthood, encountering fresh struggles and a new romance with Jane Forsythe, a flower seller.

The musical is based on an original concept by Esler Burke and has been reimagined for the 2025 tour by Anything Theatre Company.

Music and lyrics have been redeveloped by Leighlou Harper and Si Wall, with arrangements and orchestration by Gregg Birrell.

Leighlou Harper, the tour’s producer, has emphasised her commitment to nurturing emerging artists and “fostering inclusivity within the arts.”

Full casting has been completed and rehearsals are now underway.

The tour will continue after Bolton with performances in Manchester, Birmingham, Dumfries, Sheffield, Newtownabbey, and other locations across the UK and Northern Ireland.
